hearty exercise

How far should I walk after having a heart attack. I'm trying to get strong again after being laid out for so long.

A slow and steady hearty exercise
by: Neil

In order to return your heart to pre-heart attack strength or close to it. The doctors would place someone on a Cardiac exercise regime that slowly increases with intensity. It is not how far you can walk, it is not a race. It is a life process to get back into shape. Your heart has undergone a tremendous shock and needs time to recouperate, however if all you do is rest then your heart will not get strong. So a graduated exercise program will help bounce you right back. Start walking one day 20 feet then the next 30 feet and finally 50 feet. The idea is to slowly build up to walking 15 minutes then 20 minutes. At a pace that you can maintain a talk without getting out of breath. The process is meant to be slow and methodical so don't push it.
